Automobile manufacturers are gearing up to introduce their latest offerings in the market in the final of month this festive season. Many car makers launched new vehicles in September and October, while some of the most-anticipated vehicles are waiting for release in November. In addition, there are some face-lifted versions of the current models. We have compiled a list of the vehicles entering the market soon.
Bajaj Kratos VS400
Bajaj Auto introduced the Pulsar CS400 concept at Auto Expo 2014 while the production spec will get the name Kratos VS400. The new flagship motorcycle of Bajaj Auto will be powered by a 373.27cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark engine that develops 34.5bhp at 8,000rpm. The cruiser sport will be pitted against the Royal Enfield's range of cruiser motorcycles. As for pricing, expect Bajaj's new offering to see a price tag starting at Rs 1.7 lakh.
Vespa 946 Emporio Armani edition
Vespa will launch its most expensive scooter in India christened as the 946 Emporio Armani. The 946 Emporio Armani is the offspring of Vespa and Italian fashion brand, Giorgio Armani. The 946 combines the retro styling with a contemporary twist. It sports an exclusive colour scheme of a dark shade of matte gray with a touch of green only visible under certain light conditions. It will be powered by a 125cc, single cylinder petrol engine that develops 11.7hp and 10.3Nm of torque. The scooter reportedly comes with a top speed of 93kmph and it will be priced around whopping Rs 8 lakh.
Renault Kwid AMT
French car maker Renault recently teased image of a rotary automatic gearshifter that hints at the imminent launch of the Kwid's Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) version. While it is not clear which of the variants of the Kwid will get AMT, reports on the web suggest that the 1.0 litre Kwid is likely to get AMT. he Kwid AMT could be called Kwid Easy-R AT in India and is expected to get 5-speed automated manual transmission that is used in the Duster AMT. Kwid AMT is likely to see a price tag of Rs. 30,000 higher than the regular model.
Skoda Rapid facelift
Skoda India will launch new Rapid on 3 November and dealers have already started bookings for the new sedan. The new version will sport design changes in line with the international spec Rapid that was launched way back in 2012. The new face of the Rapid unmistakably hints that it is the younger sibling of the Octavia with a sharper and angular design theme. The rear and the side profiles are likely to remain untouched. On powetrains, the 1.6-litre MPI petrol mill in the current model will be carried over, while the 1.5 TDI diesel mill will be upgraded to the same capacity engine introduced with the Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan.
Volkswagen Polo GTI
Volkswagen India is expected to roll out its most powerful Polo variant in November. The fourth generation of the powerful version of the Polo -- the GTI -- comes with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing maximum power output of 189bhp and maximum torque of 320Nm, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. The GTI will run from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds before reaching the top speed of 236kmph. The Polo GTI will be sold as CBU unit in India and the estimated price hovers around Rs 20 lakh.
Volvo S90
Swedish car-maker Volvo will launch its flagship sedan, the S90 on 4 November and bookings are already underway. Expected to fall in the price brackets of Rs 57 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom), the S90 will rival Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. The S90 is based on the Scalable Product Architecture as the XC90. The sedan will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops 188bhp in D4 trim initially. A D5 engine with all-wheel drive will join the range later.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class, S-Class Cabriolet
German Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz will launch cabriolet versions of the C-Class and the S-Class on 9 November. The C-Class convertible will be the most affordable open-top model to be offered Mercedes-Benz in India and it will compete against the Audi A3 Cabrolet. Both the C and S-Class cabriolets comes in a fabric roof that can be opened or closed in 24 seconds at speeds up to 50 kmph in the former while latter need just 20 seconds at the same speed. The C300 Cabriolet will be using a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine tuned for 241bhp while the S500 Cabriolet will be powered by y a 4.7-litre, V8, biturbo petrol engine that churns out 443bhp.
New Toyota Fortuner
All new Toyota Fortuner will enter Indian market on 7 November. In the latest avatar, Fortuner is more youthful than the outgoing version. The new version features reworked front and rear bumper, which is sportier. The headlamps and tail lamps are slimmer and wider now. The SUV will be loaded with features such as 7-inch T-Connect infotainment system, reverse camera, electrically adjustable driver's seat and cruise control. It will be powered by be powered by 2.4-litre GD and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines. Former will develop 148bhp and 400Nm of torque while the latter will belt out 175bhp and 450Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to the choice of six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai will re-launch the Tucson SUV in India on 14 November. Hyundai Tucson is already open for bookings in India and is expected to get a price tag starting at Rs 18 lakh. To be positioned between the Creta and Santa Fe in India, the Tucson feature a Fluidic 2.0 design language and is expected to get a 2.0-litre diesel engine under the hood that can churn out 180bhp and 400Nm of torque mated to six-speed manual transmission. The Tucson will go up against the Skoda Yeti and Mahindra XUV500.
