After a lot of anticipation, the first look of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel was revealed in Entertainment Weekly's latest cover.
The character was introduced to us at the end of Avengers Infinity War when Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) sends a page to the mysterious Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel is presumably the last hope to defeat Thanos in Avengers 4.
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will hit theatres on 8 March 2019. It will narrate Danvers' story and give an insight into the character and where she has been all along.
Larson speaks about her character in an exclusive interview with EW. "She can't help but be herself. She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She's also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she's the first one out there and doesn't always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw," she said.
Unlike other superhero movies, Captain Marvel takes place in the mid-90s, way before Steve Rogers or Tony Stark came into the picture. The movie will have a younger Fury with both eyes intact working at a desk job in S.H.I.E.L.D.

The first female superhero movie is also directed by MCU's first female director, Boden. She said, "This is not a superhero who's perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection. But what makes her special is just how human she is. She's funny, but doesn't always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn't always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness."
