Japanese camera maker Canon announced the launch of the EOS 1200D, entry-level DSLR in India at a price of 30,995 for the body.
The Canon EOS 1200D, also known as EOS Rebel T5 was first announced in February days ahead of the CP+ exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The camera which is aimed at the first time DSLR buyers comes with attractive features like 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, a Digic 4 processor, an ISO range of 100-6400 (boost till 12,800) , 9-point auto-focusing system and 1080p/30 fps video capture.
The 1200D is priced at 30,995 (for the body only). The options and prices on the kits are: EOS 1200D + 18-55 IS II lens at 34,995 and EOS 1200D + 18-55 IS II & 55-250 IS II at 39,995.
"The EOS 1200D is an exciting addition to our DSLR range. With powerful features and user-friendly menus, the EOS 1200D is ideal for first time buyers. To further attract potential buyers, the EOS 1200D will be available with an exciting double zoom lens offer, at a killer price," said Andrew Koh, Senior Director, ICP Business Centre, Canon India,as quoted by NDTV Gadgets.
Canon's DSLR 1200D is introduced in India few days after the camera maker Nikon brought its D3300 and D4S to the country. Nikon D3300, which boasts 24.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor and AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VRII lens, is priced at 32,450 (body only). The Nikon D3300 with AF-S 18-55mm VRII kit is available for 37,950 and the Nikon D3300 with D-ZOOM KIT (AF-S 18-55mm VRII + AF-S 55-200mm VR Kit Lenses) is priced at 46,950. The camera will be available in black, grey and red colours in India.
On the other hand, the full-frame Nikon D4S comes with a 16.2-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor and boasts Expeed 4 image-processing engine rated with ISO range of 100-25,600 and will be available in India from March end at a retail price of 4,19,950.
