After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone is set to join the actresses at the 70th Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. The Bollywood beauties will walk the red carpet to represent international cosmetic brand L'Oreal Paris.
While Aishwarya and Sonam's Cannes journey started in 2002 and 2011, respectively, this will be Deepika's debut appearance at the prestigious movie carnival.
The Cannes Film Festival will be on from May 17 to 28 and the three actresses along with Hollywood celebrities Julianne Moore and Eva Longoria will don the latest trends and colours from the brand's collection.
"We're happy to announce that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor will be representing L'Oreal Paris and India at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This year is very special to us as L'Oreal Paris celebrates two decades of being the official makeup partner for Cannes," Indo Asian News Service (IANS) quoted Raagjeet Garg, general manager, L'Oreal Paris as saying.
Deepika has replaced Katrina Kaif, who was the brand ambassador of the international cosmetic brand earlier along with Aishwarya and Sonam.
A few months ago, when news of the Padmavati actress being roped in as the brand ambassador of the international cosmetic brand broke, rumours started doing the rounds that the Tiger Zinda Hai actress lost the deal as Deepika has turned out to be far more popular and sought after actress than her.
While some defended Katrina by saying that she chose to walk out because she wanted to launch her own cosmetics line, others questioned if it was her tactic to escape from the fiasco as no official announcement regarding the launch of her own cosmetics line was made.
