Indian divas - Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat and Freida Pinto - disappointed their fans back home with their fashion choices at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. After a series of disasters on the red carpet, now all hopes are on former Miss World and Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
India is one of the guest countries at Cannes to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema. To mark the 100th anniversary at Cannes, Bollywood celebrities decided on Indian attire. But unfortunately, they left many disappointed with their fashion faux-pas on the red carpet .
Vidya Balan, who is in the jury panel, wore a lehenga-choli and sari designed by her favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the event. Sonam Kapoor, who is the brand ambassador of L'Oreal Paris, was seen in a sari for the first day, and on second day she wore a strapless petal blooming Dolce & Gabbana gown. Both the actresses sported huge nose rings to go along with their traditional outfits.
Even in that matter Amitabh Bachchan's wardrobe was not that impressive. For the premiere he was seen wearing black sequined tuxedo jacket, white shirt and a polka-dotted bow tie.
Now all eyes are on Aishwarya Rai, who has already arrived in Cannes with her 16-month-old daughter Aaradhya. Touted as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Aishwarya will attend the event for the 12th consecutive time. She will walk the red carpet on 20 May as brand ambassador of L'Oreal Paris.
But even the beauty queen had several fashion disasters at the Cannes red carpet. It was only after 2005 when the actress finally made a good impression with her style.
Even last year, her appearance was much awaited due to the controversy surrounding her post-pregnancy weight gain. But she managed to silence all critics when she walked the red carpet in lovely Indian and western outfits.
