Bollywood actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vidya Balan showed up in Indian attire for the screening of Indian anthology film "Bombay Talkies" on Sunday at 66th Cannes Film Festival.
While Aishwarya opted for a black Sabyasachi lehenga-sari with golden embroidery and a matching hair accessory, Vidya was seen in an elegant Sabyasachi sari complimented by huge earrings and an embroidered potli.
Aishwarya, a regular at Cannes, also donned a fabulous black lace and sequined Elie Saab couture gown on Sunday for the screening of the film "Inside Llewyn Davis". This is her 12th consecutive appearance at the Festival. Her previous red carpet style that comprised a sari-jacket combo had stirred debate about her weight gain following the birth of her daughter Aaradhya.
For Vidya, her first stint to Cannes as a jury member was disastrous on the fashion front. Things took a turn during the screening of "Bombay Talkies", when the actress' twin-shaded silk sari topped with ethnic gold jewelley transformed her into the ethereal beauty that she is known to be.
Apart from Aishwarya and Vidya, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar also stuck to the traditional theme by showing up in a white sari with red border complimented by big earrings. Zoya's choice of attire came as a surprise to her fans, as she has always sported tomboyish looks at public events.
The directors of "Bombay Talkies" - Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar - were also present at the screening of the film on 19 May.
National Award winner Actor Irfan Khan also turned up for the evening gala. His co-star in "Bombay Talkies", Nimrit Kaur, who looked stunning in a black Sabyasachi lehenga sari, was also present for the screening.
