Cannes 2013: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Overcomes Past Fashion Disasters, Looks Stunning on Red Carpet [PHOTOS]

Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan put fears of another style disaster to rest, after showing up in a fabulous black lace and sequined Elie Saab couture gown at the 66th Cannes Film Festival on Sunday 

The 39-year-old actress has been a regular at the prestigious French film festival for the past 12 years.  Her previous appearance was in 2011, just months after she gave birth to her daughter Aaradhya. She was then intensely criticised for her 'puffed up' look and her choice of a sari-jacket combo went horribly worng.

This time, Aishwarya returned to the red carpet with a bang for the screening of the film "Inside Llewyn Davis". She looked stunning in an elegant sequined Ellie Saab dress complimented by a black miniaudiere, diamond stud earrings, a gold bangle and a diamond ring.

Her style was enhanced by smokey eye makeup with golden glitter under the lower lashlines, a neutral sparkling lipgloss and a slight touch of blush.

For the evening gala of "Bombay Talkies" that marked the 100thanniversary of Indian cinema, Aishwarya donned a black and golden lehenga-sari from Sabyasachi. Her heavily embroidered sari was complimented with a matching golden hair accessory.

Aishwarya also looked stunning in a white and mermaid-like black skirt cinched with an Armani belt, while giving interviews to Indian television channels. The figure hugging outfit showed that the actress regained her pre-pregnancy body.
