Samsung has shipped close to seven million Galaxy S3 handsets around the world and the prominence of the device has set it apart from the rest. But the Korean giant is not done yet as the upcoming Galaxy Note version 2 is expected to be unveiled soon.
According to a report by the Korean Daily, Samsung hopes to hold an event at the IFA Electronics Expo in Berlin on August 30. During big events, Samsung usually announces their best products and last year they unveiled Galaxy Note at a similar event. Galaxy Note 2 is expected to be launched during the expo.
Galaxy Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch 1680 x 1050 resolution Super AMOLED display and a design inspired by Galaxy S3 smartphone. In fact, Galaxy S3 has a curved shape and a glossy touch with polycarbonate plastic. Recently, Samsung launched a quad-core 4G LTE Galaxy S III in Korea. Hence the possibility of Galaxy Note 2 coming with similar specs is highly expected.
Other rumors surrounding the phone include 1.5GB support, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and a competitive price tag of $299.99 with a contract in the US.
Rest of the world also may find similar price tag based on the original Galaxy Note. Many reports point to a 12 megapixel or a 13 megapixel camera. However, the possibility of an 8 megapixel camera supporting 1920x1080 (1080p HD) cannot be ruled out.
There is a 2100 mAh battery found in Galaxy S3 and the original Galaxy Note features Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery. Going by available battery specs, Samsung may retain Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery for Note 2 as well.
Meanwhile, HTC One X is already a hit smartphone among consumers around the globe. However, Galaxy Note 2's rumored specs almost dwarf those of HTC's flagship device. HTC One X has 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 pixels display, 1 GB RAM support, 8 megapixel camera, Ice Cream Sandwich support and Li-Po 1800 mAh battery.
Currently, HTC is said to be working on HTC PM63100 model codenamed Evita. The new device will feature a 720p HD supporting display offering 1198x720 pixel resolution. There is a multi-core quad-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz going to be fitted into the handset. And it will run on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
