Activision, the publisher of FPS title Call of Duty has confirmed that the trailer that was leaked is in fact a new game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in the series that is already up for pre-ordering via its official website.
The game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare envisions the powerful battlegrounds of the future, where both technology and tactic have evolved to usher in a new era of combat for the franchise," said Activision on the game's website.
It further reveals that Hollywood actor, Kevin Spacey will be starring as Jonathan Irons, a man who will wield considerable clout in the upcoming game who is the "most powerful men in the world" and is responsible for shaping the "future of war." He heads the Atlas Corporation a Private Military Corporations (PMC).
Gameplay Details
The game will be set in the future year 2054, with huge advances in technology and military progress leading to "powerful consequences." The story is based on PMC which do not share their allegiance to any country to gain the upper hand in the world. These PMCs not only outsource the war, but are also the reason why the borders of countries are redrawn and it changes the rules of war, says Activision.
The game will also be featuring an advanced soldier with many countries across the world conducting experiments for it in the real world. Activision is trying to add these in the game to give players a vision of the future. Soldiers in the game will be able to move vertically, can boost their jumps, has become invisible using cloaks and has advanced biomechanics.
Further, the soldier in the game will have exoskeletons with advanced armors and weapons. The battlegrounds in Advanced Warfare will be hi-tech with arsenal and ability set. It will involve the user of hoverbikes and drones. The game promises to have a "new gameplay dynamics" where players will be able to choose between standard ammunition and a new class of directed-energy weaponry.
"We've made several key decisions with an eye towards creative excellence on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We've really approached this game differently," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, CVG reported.
The upcoming title will be rolling out for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on 4 November 2014.
