A video has emerged showing thousands of migrants trying to storm the Calais entrance to the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France.
The footage, posted online by YouTube user ISpeak Truth, shows a large group of migrants rushing towards the tunnel entrance unchallenged on 27 July. The video comes after French police confirmed a man was killed when 1,500 migrants rushed the French side of the Channel Tunnel on 28 July.
Eurotunnel says no freight services are running while Sections of the M20 in Kent are closed in both directions to allow for lorry parking. The man who died is described as Sudanese, aged between 25 and 30.
Home Secretary Theresa May has pledged £7m (€9.8m, $10.9m) in UK government funding to strengthen security on the Calais side of the Eurotunnel. The train company had asked the UK to contribute the money earlier in the month.
Roughly 5,000 migrants from Africa and the Middle East — including Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan and Afghanistan — are camping out near the French side of the tunnel and many have been attempting to sneak into lorries as they wait to cross to the UK.
