In what could be taken as a move to counter competition from telecom operators such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has introduced a new data plan called Chaukka 444 which offers unlimited 4G data to its users for three months (90 days) ar Rs 444.
The Special Tariff Voucher (STV) 444 is a follow-up to the company's earlier STV-333 plan which reportedly witnessed a positive response from its subscribers. However, the STV–444 is a new promotional offer only for prepaid users.

"We are committed to providing affordable and efficient services to all segment of our mobile customers. We offer best prices to our customers considering the present trend of Indian telecom industry," said RK Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL Board, in a press statement.
BSNL currently offers 2GB of 4G data daily besides unlimited voice call within the same network for 28 days to its pre-paid subscribers under Rs 339 plan.
Major telecom operators have been at a war-footing on data pricing ever since Reliance Jio offered unlimited free data in October last year.
Idea Cellular recently launched a new Rs 396 plan, offering 70GB data (1GB per day) along with unlimited calls within the same network, both local and national, and 3,000 minutes of free calls to non-Idea number (300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes a week), after which users will be charged 30 paise per minute. However, the new plan is applicable for select users and requires calling the customer service to check for eligibility.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has Dhan Dhana Dhan plan, which offers unlimited data at 4G speed for 84GB with a daily FUP of 1GB (unlimited data at 128kbps post 1GB usage), free voice call to subscribers of all telecom operators (local, STD and roaming), and unlimited SMS (local STD and roaming) at Rs 309. It is valid for 84 days and is for pre-paid users only.
Bharti Airtel has Rs 244 4G plan for pre-paid subscribers, offering 1GB of 4G data per day for 70 days and unlimited Airtel-to-Airtel calls (local and STD) with a daily cap of 300 minutes and 1200 minutes per week, after which 10 paise will be charged per minute. There is also Rs 345 4G plan offers the same benefits except an increased in usage -- 2GB of 4G data for 28 days.
Vodafone pre-paid subscribers can avail the Rs 352 4G plan which offers 1GB of 4G data per day or 56GB of data for 56 days, besides unlimited local and STD calls with a cap of 300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes per week.
