State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) launched four new mobile devices in the country on Friday, in collaboration with home-grown company Pantel Technologies.
The devices - PentaSmart PS501, PentaSmart PS650, PentaBharat Phone PF300 and Penta T-Pad WS707C - which were launched under BSNL's 'Bharat Phone' range include two smartphones, one feature phone and a tablet. All four gadgets fall in the affordable price brackets and come bundled with free talktime offers.
"We are delighted to offer latest technology products in a reverse data bundling marketing alliance with Pantel Technologies. Products like the Penta Bharat Phone will now offer the Indian consumer the power of Internet access at an affordable price," said R.K. Upadhyay, BSNL chairman and managing director, as quoted by IANS.
Smartphones
PentaSmart PS501
PentaSmart PS501 Smart sports 5-inch IPS display and is powered by 1.2GHz A7 dual-core processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM. The device packs 4GB of internal storage which is expandable by up to 32 GB with microSD card and comes equipped with 5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports 2G, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is priced at ₹6,999 and will get 3GB of free data and 300 minutes of free talktime.
PentaSmart PS650
PentaSmart PS650, on the other hand, comes with a 6.5-inch screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz A7 dual-core CPU with MALI 400MP GPU. It packs 512MB of RAM along with 4GB of internal storage. The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platforms and flaunts 2-megapixel rear camera with HDR recording and a VGA front-facing camera. The connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS, 3G support and is powered by 2500 mAh battery that delivers up to 100 hrs standby time. The device will be available in the market for ₹ 7,999.
Tablet: Penta T-Pad WS707C
Penta T-Pad WS707C is 7-inch tablet with voice-calling support and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It is powered by a dual-core processor and comes with 512 MB RAM and 4GB of Internal Storage. It is priced at ₹6,999 and comes with pre-installed apps like Spuul, Flipboard, Facebook, Skype, Daydream and Aldiko e-book read.
Feature Phone: PentaBharat Phone PF300
PentaBharat Phone PF300, a dual-SIM handset is the cheapest offering amongst the four. It comes with a 3-inch display on board and offers internet browsing facilities. The Bharat Phone targets rural India and will be marketed with a price tag of ₹1,799. Other features of this entry level phone include 1.3 megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth, 64MB of RAM, 64MB of internal storage and a 1800 mAh Lithium-Ion battery that boasts life up to 8 hours of talk time and 15 days in standby time. It also comes with 1,200 minutes of free talk time.
