BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened lower by 8.8 points and 11.7 points on Thursday. The Sensex opened at 25540.92 points versus its previous closing at 25549.72 points, while the Nifty recorded 7612.70 points versus its previous closing of 7624.40 points.
But at 10.30 am Sensex recorded 25577.93 points with surge of 28.21 points or 0.11 percent, while the Nifty recorded 7638.15 points with an increase of 13.75 points or 0.18 percent.
On the other hand, the Indian rupee opened 3 paise weaker at 60.16 per dollar versus its previous closing of 60.13 a dollar.
On Wednesday, the Indian rupee ended unchanged as the dollar's trade at overseas and state run banks balanced the gains among local shares.
"Any major reaction to the trade deficit data was not expected as the numbers were positive on certain fronts and negative on some others. The rupee will continue to trade in a narrow range until new cues come in," Reuters quoted Paresh Nayar, head of FX and fixed income at FirstRand Bank.

However, the position of these above mentioned companies shifted frequently during trading hours.
At 10.30 am, among 12 Indian Indices, BSE Oil and Gas, Banking and Auto sector stocks declined by 41.71 points, 83.56 points and 59.90 points , while the rest were recorded surging.
