Actor Ram Charan's latest outing "Bruce Lee - The Fighter" (BLTF), which was released in theatres on 16 October, started with a bang at the box office and is likely to beat the first day collection of "Rudhramadevi".
"Bruce Lee - The Fighter" is one of the most-hyped and highly-awaited Telugu movies of 2015. Its promos have garnered a lot of public attention and generated huge amounts of positive vibe for the film before its release. In addition, the makers have shelled out a hefty sum on its massive publicity. The hype helped it record a good amount of advance booking for its opening day.
The Ram Charan and Rakul Preet Singh starrer was premiered in 100+ centres in international markets on Thursday night. The makers are yet to reveal its collection in the paid previews. Early estimates show that the movie has beaten the records of recent hit films like "Bhale Bhale Magadivoy" and "Rudhramadevi" at the US box office.
"Bruce Lee - The Fighter" also had premiere shows on Thursday night and benefit shows on the wee hours of Friday in several centres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film witnessed decent amount of footfalls in these shows. It opened in around 2,000 cinema halls around the world.
The Srinu Vaitla-directed action entertainer opened to an overwhelming response in matinee and afternoon shows. The movie registered an average of 80% occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes everywhere. Some centres displayed the 'housefull' board much before the first show began.
However, "Bruce Lee - The Fighter" garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences, who were very much disappointed with the second half of the film. Most of the viewers said that the first half is very entertaining, but the second half is a big let down and Chiranjeevi's cameo is the only saving grace. The word of the mouth is likely to take a toll on its business in the evening shows.
"Govindudu Andarivadele", which was released in 1,400+ screens on 1, October, 2014, collected Rs 10 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day. It has been the biggest opener for Ram Charan. When compared to its volume of release, "Bruce Lee - The Fighter" is much bigger than that film and is expected to shatter the record of Cherry's last outing.
