Brittani Cooper wins dirtiest college apartment awardFacebook

Cleanliness is something most people are taught as a child. Remember the time our mothers would often nag us to clean our rooms and keep things in their designated places. Who thought being untidy could even pay off some day -- £500 to be precise.

British real estate student Brittani Cooper won the award for the dirtiest college apartment after her father encouraged her to send the images. And trust us when we say this, the images of the house will make your skin crawl. After all, the images were worst among 982 other entries.

Cooper, 19, shares the Bristol apartment with five housemates and the images are what nightmares are made off. There are dirty utensils and alcohol bottles all over the kitchen. The counter-tops are a mess and the hob is covered in grease. If that wasn't enough, the sink is overflowing and covered in mould and same is the case with the bins. It rather looks like the trash has never ever been taken out.

Other rooms are equally messy with pizza boxes all around and books and clothes strewn around at the most random places.

Speaking about how exactly she came to know about the contest and even won £500, Cooper told Mirror UK: "My dad saw that web-blinds.com had launched a campaign to find the UK's worst student digs on an online news site. He sent me the link to the article as a joke because he knew that my housemates and I didn't exactly keep our flat the tidiest during the past year."

Cooper also said that she is happy that she entered the contest. "I decided it was worth entering with some images of our very messy kitchen, and now I'm so happy I did," she added.

When asked what she plans to do with the cash prize she has won, she explained that she will spend the amount to decorate her second-year student house. "I'm aiming to keep my new home a lot cleaner," she said.

While the images definitely made us all icky, Kirsty O'Sullivan, spokesperson for web-blinds.com felt the same way. "It was not easy task to pick just one winner from the students' submissions to our dirtiest digs competition. In fact, it was tough even looking at some of the pictures," she explained.
