Several celebrities have come up to support a breast cancer awareness campaign titled #DetectToDefeat. October being observed as International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the campaign launched by digital media channel Aur Dikhao is directed to spread awareness about breast cancer, urging women to undergo a 2-minute self test.
Celebrities like Divya Khosla Kumar, Sunny Leone, Taapsee Pannu, Disha Parmar, Shibani Dandekar, Priya Bapat, Poonam Pandey and Gaurav Gera, among others, featured in short creative videos to create awareness about breast cancer.
Breast cancer is one of the fastest rising cancer types amongst women. More than half of the cases are detected in stage 3 or 4, thus inhibiting any chances for cure. Hence, the only way for prevention is raising awareness through early detection, treatment and cure.
"My team has entirely conceptualised and put together this campaign with 15 women celebrities in a record time of 15 days, thus literally shooting a celeb a day. We chose these women to break the ice when it comes to discussion on breast cancer awareness. The numbers we found out are alarming and what troubled us, or, rather intrigued is the fact that breast cancer is detectable at an early stage and hence curable. Every celebrity was equally willing to be a part of this and helped in the execution of the campaign," said Aditya Bhat, project head and founder-CEO of Aur Dikhao, in a statement.
Each of the videos conveys the message in a creative and engaging manner. Some of the videos sarcastically suggest breast cancer can be detected easily if women start giving as much attention to their breasts as men do. Other videos beautifully show that being busy is not an excuse as the test requires just 2 minute. Check some of the videos below:
