Xiaomi received a partial reprieve from the Delhi High Court over Ericsson's patent infringement case and the judicial body has granted permission to the Chinese smartphone maker to sell select handset models in the subcontinent.

This means that Xiaomi can begin selling Snapdragon SoC (System on Chip) based Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G models in India till January first week.
However 3G Redmi Note model, which runs on MediaTek Octa-core CPU model, won't be sold in India. If all things were in place, this variant would have gone on flash sale today (16 December) at Flipkart.
When IBTimes India contacted Xiaomi's media representative for their reaction, the spokesperson said that they too just received the news and are awaiting the official judgement.
It has be noted that Xiaomi last month had claimed that the company in collaboration with Airtel would begin selling Redmi Note 4G later this month. Now with a limited sale window (less than one month), the company will soon kick-start the Redmi Note 4G sale in the subcontinent.
As of now, Redmi 1S is yet to go on sale at Flipkart. It was abruptly halted last week after the Delhi High court put a ban on its sale.

Xiaomi-Ericsson Patent Infringement Case recap:
It has been learnt that Xiaomi violated Ericsson's Standard, Essential Patents (SEPs), which are subject to FRAND (Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory) terms.
And despite Ericsson's persistent requests (numbering six) for a reply to the notice, Xiaomi had been evasive since June 2014. This forced Ericsson to file injunction in the Delhi High Court, which in turn found Xiaomi guilty of 'purported laxity'.
