Boxers around the world are aware of Manny Pacquiao's speed inside the ring, which could prove to be a huge advantage when the Filipino takes on Floyd Mayweather on 2 May at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The bout has got the entire boxing fraternity talking about what has been termed as the fight of the century. Boxers such as Eddie Chambers and Lennox Lewis feel Mayweather would defeat Pacquaio. But Puerto Rican professional boxer Miguel Cotto, who has fought both the boxers, knows about their strengths and weaknesses.
While Cotto lost against both the boxers is another part of the story, having worked with Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach Cotto knows that the trainer is capable of good things with the Filipino.
"I've been working with Freddie Roach for the last two fights, and I know what he's capable of doing with Manny," Cotto said via ESPN's First Take.
"I think he's going to get Manny through Floyd's mistakes. Manny is going to take advantage of...I'm rooting for Manny."
Roach is one of the most well known trainers in the sport of boxing, who has even been voted as the trainer of the year by Boxing Writers Association of America in 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013.
This has given him a celebrity status in boxing history as well. The trainer is currently not involved with Pacquiao's training as he is preparing Chinese boxer, Zou Shiming to fight against IBF flyweight titleholder Amnat Ruenroeng in Macau.
Cotto has made it clear that he would be rooting for the Filipino, who has an impressive record with 57 wins from 64 bouts, 38 of which came from knockout blows.
One has to realise that it is not only his punches, which has floored opponents, but his quickness inside the ring, which has caught a number of people unaware.
"I think the explosiveness and quickness of Manny is going to have a big impact on Floyd's performance. The explosiveness will be an advantage. He can move from here to there in less than a second."
But that is not going to deter Mayweather, who is said to possess a strong punch of his own. When Mayweather gets going, it would be a very difficult affair to stop the American.
It is due to such aggression and punches, which he has thrown at his opponents in the past, Mayweather has won 26 of his matches via knock outs in an impressive career, where he has remained unbeaten.
