The fight of the century between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in May might not have been an entertaining one as expected, but the Filipino wants to take on the pound-for-pound king in a rematch and entertain the fans.
The fight of the century on 2 May, which was one of the richest sporting event in history failed to live up to the hype as it was one of the richest sporting event in the world, which saw the American emerge triumphant and maintain his unbeaten streak as well. Mayweather holds an impressive record in professional boxing with 48 wins and no losses.
After the bout was ever, Pacquaio stated that he was not in the best of health as he was suffering from a shoulder injury, but the Filipino has fully recovered from it after he underwent a shoulder surgery and promises for a better performance if a rematch takes shape next year.
Though he wants to work as a politician for the year, he is eager to get another shot against the champion.
"I'd like to concentrate my efforts on working as a politician this year, and want to fight Mayweather in a rematch. I'll be ready for that mentally and physically next year. I'll show a better performance against him than in the first encounter," Pacquiao stated in an interview.
When the two boxers met inside the same ring at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Pacquiao was very aggressive in his approach, but it was Mayweather's defence, which saw the American turn triumphant.
The Filipino was of the opinion that he deserved the victory as his opponent was running away all the time inside the ring.
"He was running away all the time. I was making the fight by stalking him and believe that I deserved a victory," said Pacquiao.
But, one is not sure as to whether the rematch is going to take place between the two as the Mayweather clearly stated after his fight against Pacquiao that he will retire from the sport in September.
And it was only a few days back that Mayweather has decided to fight against Andre Berto in September, which has not been well received by experts and critics, who feels the American has gone for an easier opponent.
Pacquaio feels Maywether's fight is going to be a good one.
"It will be a good fight as Andre Berto is fast and strong," said Pacquiao.
