After a thumping win against Sonny Whiting in his professional debut fight in Manchester, Vijender Singh will now bout in London at the Harrow Leisure Centre on 30 October, though his opponent has not been decided so far.
Irrespective of the opponent, Vijender is not going to be overawed and is expected to come up with an entertaining fight as was witnessed against Whiting, who was helpless as the Indian star came up with some aggressive mindset in the third round.
Whiting had been very vocal prior to his fight against Vijender, but the Olympian did all the talking with his gloves during the bout when he won the match via technical knockout. Though Vijender might have started his pro career on the right track, he needs to carry on with such performances and earn a big name in the sport of pro boxing in order to challenge some big names in the circuit.
Vijender is thrilled to fight in London on 30 October.
"I'm thrilled to be fighting in London as a professional for the first time and I can't wait to meet with my fans in the south and give them some big-fight action," PTI quoted Vijender as saying.
Indian boxing fans, who watched the bout on TV, were treated to a fantastic performance by Vijender, who knew that the whole country was watching his bout on TV so he had to come up with something special and he did so with some electrifying jabs and punches.
"Winning on last Saturday was a very big moment for me, I had my whole country watching me on TV, even the though they weren't there it felt like they were and I knew that I had to give them something special and I did," said Vijender.
It is not only the people in India, but also Indians based in the UK who have been egging the boxer to deliver the goods. Vijender wants to bring more excitement when he fights in London
"I've been overwhelmed with messages from fans congratulating me on the win...London is probably the most 'happening' place in the world, there is a big buzz and magnetism in the city with sport and entertainment, the history and culture, so I can't wait to bring more excitement when I fight there," added Vijender.
