Vijender Singh was at his amazing best against Francis Cheka in New Delhi as the Indian boxer managed to defend his WBO Asia Super Middleweight title on Saturday. The Indian boxer, who defeated his opponent in the third round via a technical knockout, also alleged that Cheka had a foul game plan, stating the Tanzanian boxer bit him in his shoulder a few times.
This biting incident comes as a huge surprise especially after Cheka's trash talking, where he had spoken about knocking out Vijender early.
"Cheka tried to bite me on the shoulder a few times, in fact he did bite me. I was telling my coach (Lee Beard) at the ring side that Cheka was biting me. But my coach told me to keep focusing on the bout and just ignore everything. So, I just concentrated on my fight and one right punch from me on his face did the trick. Cheka couldn't muster the courage to carry on and here I am with the belt," India Today quoted Vijender as saying.
With Cheka talking so much ahead of the bout, Vijender was pumped up to silence the Tanzanian boxer with his performance inside the ring, and he did it so well in the third round, finishing off with a powerful punch on the face.
Vijender did not go all out in the bout, but was waiting or the correct time to unleash his punches. He did make good use of his advantage in the three rounds he competed in. This has to be one of his impressive fights in the pro career as Cheka was one of the most experienced boxers he had fought. Vijender was unperturbed with it and delivered a strong game on Saturday to emerge victorious.
With this victory, Vijender has maintained his unbeaten streak as a pro boxer, helping him earn fame in the boxing world. Vijender has now won eight bouts on a trot as a pro boxer.
