The possibility of Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao fighting it out has got further steam as the British boxer has stated that he will 'love to take that fight' against the Filipino.
Amir Khan, who was one of the biggest contender to take on Floyd Mayweather for the American's last professional fight, received a severe blow when the pound-for-pound king decided to fight Andre Berto instead.
However, with Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum having openly talked about the possibility of a match between Khan and the Filipino, the Briton should be up for it considering the British boxer's desire to fight some top boxers from around the world.
After Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao could be the next big opponent for Amir Khan, who believes that the fight can shape up.
"Yes, I think the fight can happen. If it makes sense financially for both of us, then I think the fight will definitely take place," said Khan in an exclusive interview with Dubai Eye 103.8.
The fight should be an interesting one considering Pacquiao and Khan having shared the same ring as they trained together with the same trainer, Freddie Roach in the past. Hence, these pugilists know their weaknesses and strengths at the back of their hand.
"I think it makes sense for both of us to take it. It's a great storyline because obviously Manny Pacquiao and I used to train together and we had the same trainer, Freddie Roach, so we know a lot about each other. It's a great story."
What makes the fight even more interesting is their fighting style as both of them are aggressive fighters and do not shy away from taking the offensive role. Pacquiao is said to possess tremendous hand speed, but Khan too is no slouch inside the ring.
"And fighting-style wise, Manny wasn't at his best against a defensive Mayweather, but with me I'm a totally different fighter. We both like to fight, move and both have tremendous hand speed. I think it would be amazing," said Khan.
"I'd love to take that fight."
Most of the big bouts over the years have basically been fought in Las Vegas, but this fight between Pacquiao and Khan is expected to be fought somewhere in the middle east.
Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar are favourites to land with this mega fight.
"It would be massive in the UAE, but there are other few places. Qatar is one that is interested in me fighting over there as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi', said Khan.
"We need to hear from those guys, people from those countries and cities. So let's just wait and see.
"All the major sports are going over there now, so why not take boxing there. Starting off with Amir Khan versus Manny Pacquiao would be massive out there."
