Naga Chaitanya's "Oka Laila Kosam" is set to release worldwide with the film's release count expecting to be more than 650.
The film was expected to hit the screens in September, but it did not happen for unknown reasons. The romantic entertainer is finally hitting screens on 17 October and it will enjoy a solo release as no other Telugu biggies will be out on the same day.
"Oka Laila Kosam" will be Naga Chaitanya's third release of the year after "Manam" and "Autonagar Surya." While the former was a big hit at the box office, the latter failed to set the cash registers ringing.
"Manam", starring three-generation actors from the Akkineni family including Nageswara Rao and Nagarjuna, was critically-acclaimed as well as commercially successful at the box office. The family drama took good openings and minted approximately ₹2.32 crore share at the AP/Nizam box office.
Positive word of mouth boosted the film's business and it collected ₹36.5 crore share in its full run at the worldwide box office, according to Andhraboxoffice. It turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Akkineni family.
Chaitanya's "Oka Laila Kosam" is carrying positive buzz among the fans. The film is expected to take decent openings on the first day. However, its overall performance will depend on the audience's reaction to its content. If the romantic drama impresses the audience, it is likely to perform well at the box office. It will be interesting to see if Chaitanya starrer manages to beat "Manam" first day collections.
"Oka Laila Kosam" director Vijay Kumar Konda is hoping that the film will beat "Manam" collections at the box office. "When I started working on my first film 'Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde', Nithiin's 'Ishq' was running in theatres, and it turned out to be a blockbuster. I wanted to beat 'Ishq' with my film and I succeeded at it. Now, as I await the release of my film, I've set 'Manam' as my target," Konda told IANS.
"I hope 'Oka Laila Kosam' beats 'Manam' at the box office and becomes a bigger success. There's always a pressure of delivering a hit and I can feel it even more as I have to continue my winning streak after a successful debut," he said.
The romantic drama has Miss India runner Pooja Hegde making her debut in Telugu film industry. Brahmanandam, Ali, Nassar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Suman and Prabhu Ganesan are also part of the film's cast. Film's music is composed by Anoop Rubens, while cinematography is handled by Andrew. Annapoorna Studios banner has produced the film.
