Bollywood has released more than 200 films in the last 11 months and is gearing up to conclude the year with 12 new projects. Some big-ticket movies such as "Action Jackson", "PK" and "Lingaa" are set to clash at the box office in December.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, "Action Jackson" is one of the most-hyped Hindi movies of the year. Slated to be released on 5 December, the Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha starrer will clash with "Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain", "Mumbai Delhi Mumbai" and "Take It Easy", which will hit the screens on the same day.
Though expected to do well in the first week, "Action Jackson" is likely to hit rock-bottom at the box office in the second, because of six other releases - "Lingaa", Life Mein Twist Hai", "LUV.....Phir Kabhie", "Main Aur Mr Riight", "Objection My God" and "Room - The Mystery".
Among these, the Rajinikanth starrer is expected to get huge openings at the box office. It is also likely to take a toll on the collections of "Action Jackson".
In the third week of the month, "Lingaa" will have a tough time at the box office as it will clash with Rajkumar Hirani's "PK", which will be the solo-release on 19 December. The promos of the Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer have created a lot of curiosity among film buffs, who are desperately waiting to watch the movie in theatres.
Considering its hype and promotion, "PK" would definitely get a big opening and perform well at the box office in the first week. In its second week, the film will clash with the small-budget "Mumbai Can Dance Saala", which is slated to release on 26 December and will not have another competitor until 9 January.
"Action Jackson", "Lingaa" and "PK" will be the big money-spinners among the 12 new films slated to hit the screens in December. "Action Jackson" and "Lingaa", which will clash with some small films, are expexted to do well at box office in their opening week, but their business may not remain the same during their second weeks.
However, "PK" will surely be a big hit at the box office as it does not have a worthy competitor for three weeks after its release. The movie is expected to do well and top the business chart in December. It is also likely to smash all the records of "Kick", "Bang Bang" and "Happy New Year".
