Vijay's "Kaththi" is doing fantastic business in India as well as in overseas markets.
"Kaththi" has surpassed the opening weekend collections of "Veeram" and "Jilla" at the US box office. The film has reportedly minted $271,445 (only Rentrak) in three days (Tuesday-Thursday), which is higher than the first weekend collections fetched by "Veeram" and "Jilla."
"Veeram" had earned $201,101, while "Jilla" had minted $192,858 in the first three days at the US box office, according to Bollywood Hungama. "Kaththi" has also beaten the first weekend collections of "Anjaan," which amounts to $162,463.
The Vijay starrer also rocks in the UK, Australia and Malaysia box office. It has collected £117,974 in the UK (till Friday) and A$ 95,594 in Australia. It has done exceptionally well in Malaysia and has taken the number one spot in the country by surpassing Hollywood films.

In south India, the film has smashed several records on the first day of its release. The Vijay starrer took record openings in Tamil Nadu by minting ₹12.5 crore nett. It became the highest day one grosser in the state by surpassing Rajinikanth's "Endhiran" (Tamil) collections, which netted approximately ₹11 crore.
According to an official report, "Kaththi has minted ₹23.80 crore on the opening day at the worldwide box office."

The Vijay starrer is expected to surpass the ₹50 crore mark soon. It will be interesting to see if the film will beat "Thuppakki" collections and enter the ₹100 crore mark.
Directed by Murugadoss, "Kaththi" is Vijay's action thriller where he is playing dual roles. While one of the roles is that of a social activist, the other is a small time criminal. Vijay's performances won accolades from the critics and the audience, citing that it is one of his career best. Samantha, Neil Nithin Mukesh and comedian Sathish are also part of the film's cast.
