Courtroom comedy "Jolly LLB" is dominating the domestic box office in its second week, despite the release of two new films this Friday.
The film, which is a social satire on India's legal system, features Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani in lead roles. The film collected ₹5.25 crore in the second weekend in India and approximately ₹80 lakh on Monday. The total earnings of the film stand at ₹25.57 crore after 11 days of its release.
"#JollyLLB [2nd Week] Mon ₹80 lacs. Total: ₹25.57 crore," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film remained unaffected with the release of "Aatma" and "Rangrezz". Both had a disastrous opening weekend.
"#Aatma and #Rangrezz below the mark, #JollyLLB scores, #MDKM steady," Adarsh tweeted.
"Rangrezz" starring Jackky Bhagnani, Priya Anand, Rajpal Yadav and Amitosh Nagpal is a film based on friendship. In the opening weekend, the film collected ₹3.75 crore at the domestic box office, and on the first Monday it collected around ₹65 lakh.
The four-day total of the film at the domestic box office stands at ₹4.4 crore.
Psychological thriller film "Aatma" was released along with "Rangrezz" and features Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.
The film's earnings were better than "Rangrezz" collecting around ₹5 crore on the opening weekend. On its first Monday, the film raked in about ₹85 lakh, taking the overall total to ₹5.85 crore.
The opening weekend collection was crucial for the film's business, but the collections of both films did not rise much over the weekend.
The coming Friday i.e. on 29 March, Ajay Devgn starrer "Himmatwala" is due to hit screens and is expected to affect the collections of all the films.
