Bollywood courtroom comedy "Jolly LLB" continues to do decent business at the box office despite new releases like "Aatma" and "Rangrezz".
"Jolly LLB" starring Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani in lead roles has so far raked approximately ₹24.77 crore at the domestic box office. The movie collected ₹2.25 crore on Sunday alone.
"#JollyLLB collected approx ₹5.25 cr nett in Weekend 2. Total: ₹24.77 cr nett. Fri 1.1 cr, Sat 1.9 cr, Sun 2.25 cr," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
However, the collections of another comedy "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" (MDKM) slumped on the second weekend.
"Mere Dad Ki Maruti" directed by Amisha Chibber and starring Saqib Saleem, Ram Kapoor and Prabal Panjabi in lead roles collected approximately ₹115 lakh, collectively, on Saturday and Sunday rounding off the total collections to ₹9.66 crore.
Giving the details of the weekend collections of "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" Adarsh tweeted, "#MereDadKiMaruti collected approx ₹1.54 cr nett in Weekend 2. Total: ₹9.66 cr nett. Fri 35 lacs, Sat 51 lacs, Sun 68 lacs."
Both "Jolly LLB" and "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" hit the screens on 8 March and received good reviews. However, the Subhash Kapoor directed "Jolly LLB", which is a social satire on India's legal system, has reportedly managed to draw more audiences.
According to reports, the collections of "Jolly LLB" were unaffected with the release of much-hyped films "Aatma", starring Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Priyadarshan's "Rangrezz" which features Jackky Bhagnani and Priya Anand.
The collections of both "Aatma" and "Rangrezz" were reported to be below the mark.
"#Aatma and #Rangrezz below the mark, #JollyLLB scores, #MDKM steady..........." Taran Adarsh tweeted.
