Gopichand-Rakul Preet Singh's "Loukyam" is all set to hit the screens on Friday (26 September).
"Loukyam" will be released in around 650 screens worldwide, according to Andhraboxoffice.
The film, touted to be an action-comedy entertainer, is directed by Sriwass. The film's screenplay has been written by Kona Venkat and Gopimohan, while the story is by Sridhar Seepana.
Brahmanandam, Kovai Sarala, Sampath Raj, Posani Krishna Murali, Pradeep Rawat and Chandra Mohan are also part of the film's cast.
The teaser and the trailer of "Loukyam" have received a decent response from the fans. The film is expected to get good openings upon its release. However, its overall performance will depend on the content. If it receives positive reviews from the audience, it is likely to perform well at the box office.
Although the Gopichand starrer will enjoy a solo release, the film might have to battle it out with Mahesh Babu's last-week release "Aagadu." The action entertainer, which hit the screens on 19 September, took grand openings at the box office. However, its collections have dropped due to average reviews from the critics as well as the audience alike. Many have cited that the film has nothing new to offer and is just a rehash of director Srinu Vaitla's other films.
It remains to be seen how "Aagadu" performs in its second week (from 26 September). Director Vaitla is confident that the film's business will pick up. However, the release of "Loukyam" could post a threat to the performance of "Aagadu" at the box office. If the Gopichand starrer impresses the audience, it might dominate the screens and affect the business of "Aagadu."
Gopichand's last release "Sahasam" did a good business at the box office and the actor will be hoping to strike gold once again with "Loukyam." One needs to wait and watch whether the film will be able to set the cash registers ringing.
Even if it manages to fare well, it will have less than a week's time to enjoy a good run in theatres after which it will have to compete with Ram Charan's "Govindudu Andarivaadele," which is slated to hit the screens on 1 October.
