Nagarjuna and Karthi-starrer "Thozha" got a good opening in Chennai. It also left behind films such as "Zero," "Kali" and a few other movies in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
The multi-starrer film has minted Rs 1.14 crore from 258 shows in its first weekend in Chennai, reports Behindwoods. "Thozha" registered below-average occupancy in the morning shows and the advance booking was not up to the mark. But the positive reviews worked wonders for the film as the business substantially improved on its second and third day.
Chennai has proved to be a good market again for a Hollywood film. Much-hyped "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has got a flying start in the capital city of Tamil Nadu where it has done a business of Rs 81.26 lakh from 237 shows.
New release "Zero" has got a decent opening in Chennai by making Rs 12.66 lakh from 81 shows. The movie has got fairly positive reviews and it need to hold well in weekdays to make profit.
Much-delayed "Vaaliba Raja" finally saw the light of the day last weekend. The movie had 69 shows, from which it earned Rs 8.38 lakh.
Malayalam movie "Kali" has done notable business in Chennai. The movie had only 26 shows in the weekend due to other big films. Yet, it made Rs 7.56 lakh. Most of the shows witnessed cent percent occupancy and the screen count might be increased as there is a good word-of-mouth around the flick.
Vijay Anthony-starrer "Pichaikaaran" has raked in Rs 5.39 lakh from 51 shows in its fourth weekend. The total collection of the Tamil movie stands at Rs 2.45 crore.
"Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum" has earned Rs 3.87 lakh from 33 shows to take its total tally to Rs 2.87 crore. The collection of the previous-week release "Pugazh" has slowed down. It raked in Rs 1.86 lakh to take its 10-day total to Rs 71.23 lakh.
