Despite receiving negative and funny reviews, Himesh Reshammiya-starrer "Teraa Surroor" (Tera Surroor) has got an average opening at the box office. The film, which was released in approximately 1,000 screens, opened with around 20 percent occupancy in India.
The film, which is a sequel to the 2007 release "Aap Kaa Surroor," features Himesh and Farah Karimi in the lead roles. "Teraa Surroor" also features Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Shekhar Kapur and Monica Dogra as the supporting cast.
The film, which is an action entertainer, had gained good hype before its release, thanks to Himesh's new fit avatar. Himesh underwent a complete makeover to sport a fit avatar on-screen. He is seen flaunting six-pack abs and a leaner figure but looks like it did not help the film to have a good opening at the box office.
The first-day business of the Himesh-starrer "Teraa Surroor" is just Rs 1.79 crore. The opening day box office collection of "Teraa Surroor" is lower than several small budget movies released this year.
"#TeraaSurroor Fri ₹ 1.79 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adrash tweeted.
While "Teraa Surroor" started on an average note at the domestic box office, Akshay Kumar's "Airlift" completed a half century. "Airlift," directed by Raja Menon, completed 50 days at the domestic box office and it is still running in few theaters in India.
"Airlift," starring Akshay and Nimrat Kaur, is the highest grosser of 2016, until now. The film earned approximately Rs 127 crore from its domestic run at the box office.
"This pretty much tells the tale. Dilwale released alongside Bajirao Mastani and opened better but could not sustain. On the other hand, Airlift has been going from strength to strength. As a matter of fact, the only other film to do super-hit business this year has been Neerja," Bollywood Hungama quoted an observer as saying.
