Director Harish Shankar's "Subramanyam for Sale" (SFS) has debuted with an earth-shattering response at the box office and become the biggest opener for actor Sai Dharam Tej (SDT).
"Subramanyam for Sale" is a family entertainer and it is one of the big ticket movies of 2015. Made on a budget of around Rs 12 crore, the movie has rich production values. The film boasts of "Gabbar Singh" fame Harish's direction and Mega family hero in lead roles. Its promos have generated lot of curiosity among film-goers.
The hype surrounding the film had created a lot of demand for the theatrical rights of "Subramanyam for Sale", reportedly fetching Rs 18.65 crore for its makers. Its distributors have released the film in 700 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 150 screens in other parts of India, 150 screens in the international markets such as the US and the UK.
The Sai Dharam Tej-Regina Cassandra starrer got huge amount of advance booking. The makers of "Subramanyam for Sale" held special shows in several locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the wee hours of Thursday.
"Subramanyam for Sale" special shows ran to packed houses almost everywhere and garnered positive response from viewers.
The film registered an average of 80% occupancy in the regular morning show. The word-of-mouth took its business upwards in the matinee, afternoon and evening shows.
As per early trends, "Subramanyam for Sale" has grossed approximately Rs 5.5 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and another Rs 2.5 crore from other parts of the globe. The movie has collected Rs 8 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day of its release.
Sai Dharam Tej debuted with "Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitam" in 2014 and later, also featured in "Rey", which was also released in the same year. "Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitam" and "Rey" collected Rs 2.32 crore and Rs 1.55 crore, respectively, at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office on their opening day.
"Subramanyam for Sale" is the third movie of Sai Dharam Tej. The Harish Shankar-directed film has beaten the records of both the flicks and become the biggest opener for the young Mega family hero. It has also become one of the top 10 biggest Tollywood openers of 2015.
