Box office collection: 'Soggade Chinni Nayana' outshines 'Dictator', 'Express Raja' in first week

"Soggade Chinni Nayana" (SCN) has made superb collection at the worldwide box office in its first week. The movie landed in the second place in the business charts, beating "Dictator" and "Express Raja".

"Soggade Chinni Nayana" was released in over 600 screens across the globe on 15 January a day after "Dictator" and "Express Raja" hit the marquee. The movie opened to very good occupancy and took a big leap on Saturday and Sunday. The movie collected Rs 19.77 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. It earned Rs 13.82 crore for its distributors in three days.

The Nagarjuna, Lavanya and Ramya Krishna starrer witnessed around 40% drop on weekdays and grossed Rs 13.23 crore in four days. "Soggade Chinni Nayana" has collected approximately Rs 33 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its first week. The movie is estimated to have fetched Rs 22.79 crore to its distributors in 7 days.

The Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer was released in 900 screens around the world on 14 January and made decent collection on its opening day. But its business was hit by mixed word of mouth on the following days. "Dictator" is estimated to have grossed Rs 24 crore at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend. The movie has earned approximately Rs 17.04 crore for its distributors in 8 days.

The Sharwanand and Surubhi starrer was released in limited number of screens (less than 500) on 14 January. The movie debuted with good response and made decent business on the following days. "Express Raja" is estimated to have collected Rs 13 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first week. The movie has earned approximately Rs 7 crore for its distributors in eight days.

The makers of "Soggade Chinni Nayana" are all thrilled over the huge response. Since there are no new Telugu releases, they have planned to increase its screen count everywhere in the second week. "Express Raja" was not released in Karnataka and other parts of India due to unavailability of theatres. So the movie is released in these areas in its second week.
