Silambarasan's "Ãdhu Namma Aalu" has turned out to be an above-average grosser overseas. The Tamil movie has earned Rs. 4.65 crore ($694,282) by the end of its second weekend at the international box office, TamilBoxOffice1 reported.
The biggest overseas centre for the Simbu-starrer is Malaysia, where the Tamil flick has collected Rs. 2.38 crore (MYR 1,451,820) from 69 screens. The movie is expected to do well here, given the good word-of-mouth for the flick.
In the first weekend, "Idhu Namma Aalu" had made a collection of Rs. 1.39 crore (MYR 848,322) from 75 screens. The film has retained most number of screens.
The next big centre for "Idhu Namma Aalu" is the U.S. Simbu's flick has collected Rs. 43.61 lakh ($65,032) by the end of its second weekend. It had done a business of Rs. 35.07 lakh ($52,377) in its opening weekend.
The film has collected Rs. 13.34 lakh (£13,622) in the U.K. by the end of its second weekend.
"Idhu Namma Aalu" was released in over 200 screens overseas on May 27. In its first weekend, the Tamil flick had earned about Rs. 2.80 crore ($416,648). It had released big in Malaysia (75 screens), the U.S. (35 screens), U.A.E. (31 screens) and Sri Lanka (22 screens).
The romantic movie has been written and directed by Pandiraj. Simbu, Nayanthara and Andrea Jeremiah play the lead roles.
"Iraivi"off to a Good Start
Karthik Subbaraj's "Iraivi" has got a good start overseas. The Tamil movie has collected Rs. 1.44 crore ( $215,000) at the international box office in its first weekend.
"Iraivi" has earned Rs. 62.87 lakh ($93,765) from 40 screens in the U.S. and made a collection of Rs. 25.27 lakh (MYR 156,142) in Malaysia. From the U.K. market, it has raked in Rs. 5.46 lakh (£5,665).
