Silambarasan's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has got a fantastic opening at the Chennai box office. Despite facing the heat of demonetisation, the Tamil movie has performed well in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
In the first weekend, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada minted Rs 2.05 crore from 495 shows, reports Behindwoods. The movie had an impressive occupancy rate of over 85 percent in the first weekend in Chennai. On the first day, it earned Rs 65 lakh.
Bollywood movie Rock On 2 is at the second place at the Chennai box office. The movie collected Rs 17.33 lakh from 99 shows, which is considered an average opening. Hollywood film Doctor Strange entered its second weekend by collecting Rs 10.16 lakh from 136 shows. The 10-day total collection of the movie stands at Rs 53.29 lakh.
Another new release, Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum, opened to below-average response. The Tamil movie earned just Rs 9.41 lakh from 93 shows in Chennai.
Dhanush's Kodi earned Rs 5.30 lakh from 51 shows in its third weekend. The total collection of the movie stands at Rs 3.50 crore. It may be recalled that the film had earned Rs 1.34 crore from 342 shows in the opening weekend and added Rs 1.79 crore in the next seven days to take its total tally to Rs 3.13 crore by the end of its second weekend.
Karthi's Kaashmora made Rs 4.73 lakh from 51 shows to take its total tally to Rs 2.88 crore. The film collected Rs 1.12 crore from 288 shows in the first weekend and added Rs 68.98 lakh in its second weekend to take its 10-day collection to Rs 2.61 crore.
Hindi movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil made a collection of Rs 1.42 lakh in its third weekend at the Chennai box office. Its total collection stands at Rs 1.15 crore, which is considered a good number for a Bollywood film.
