Romantic comedy "Shuddh Desi Romance" has seen a dip in its collections at the box office, despite maintaining a steady pace in its second week of theatrical run.
The second weekend collections of the youth-oriented film stand at ₹5.12 crore, taking the total to ₹42.12 crore.
"#ShuddhDesiRomance collected approx Rs 5.54 cr nett in Weekend 2: Fri 1.23 cr, Sat 2.01 cr, Sun *est* 2.30 cr. Total: Rs 42.12 cr nett," tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
Moreover, "Shuddh Desi Romance" has fetched much higher returns than this week's other releases - "John Day" and "Horror Story". "John Day", starring Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda, hit a dull figure of ₹1.50 crore, while Ayush Raina's directorial "Horror Story" raked in about ₹2.87 crore, in their first weekend.
"Shuddh Desi Romance" found takers among the young audience and scored decent second week collections against Priyanka Chopra starrer "Zanjeer", which did a sloppy business of ₹15.19 crore in its first week.
The screen count of "Zanjeer", which also features south star Ram Charan Teja, had come down to 1,000 from the earlier 2,000 after the first week. In comparison, "Shuddh Desi Romance", which was showcased in 1,000 screens, fetched ₹36.85 crore in its first week.
Adult comedy "Grand Masti", which grossed ₹12.5 crore in its opening day, has now taken over the top spot this weekend, raking in ₹40 crore in its first weekend.
