It's a battle between the two sisters - Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra - at box office this time, and the latter has won the first round with a big margin.
Priyanka Chopra's "Zanjeer" and Parineeti Chopra's "Shuddh Desi Romance" were released worldwide on Friday.
"Zanjeer", which is the debut film of South actor Ram Charan Teja, received mixed to negative reviews from critics upon its release and opened to slow start at the domestic box office on day one.
On the first day, the film made a total business of around ₹3.44 crore, which is below the mark, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The action film directed by Apoorva Lakhia was released in 2086 screens across India.
Last week's release, political drama "Satyagraha", which was targeted to limited audience, still manages to rake in good revenue at the box office.
However, "Zanjeer" which is a remake of 1970's classic film with the same title, failed to make a good start at the box office. The film registered average occupancy in theaters across the country.
The film's collection was very low as compared to romantic comedy film, "Shuddh Desi Romance".
The Yash Raj production film, "SDR" was released in just 1050 screens in India, which is lesser compared to "Zanjeer", but still raked in a whopping ₹6.45 crore on Friday.
"#ShuddhDesiRomance *actuals* 6.45 cr on 1050 screens," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"SDR" starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles garnered good reviews from critics.
The Maneesh Sharma directed film witnessed an average occupancy in morning shows but picked up later in the evening and night shows. The collections were much better in multiplexes compared to single screens.
The collection of the film is expected to shoot up during weekend because of positive word of mouth.
