Vidya Balan-Emraan Hashmi starrer "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" has not lived up to the expectations at the box office while the previous week's release, "Dil Dhadakne Do", has shown some reasonable growth on Saturday, 13 June.
To begin with, "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" has not had a great opening on Friday and the response remained more or less the same. The Bollywood movie had earned ₹5.04 crore on the opening day. On Saturday, the film raked in ₹5.15 crore, a marginal growth from its first day business, hence taking its two days collection to ₹10.19 crore.
Trade analysts say that multiple movies have played spoilsport for "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" and that audience were divided among other films including "Tanu Weds Manu Returns", "Dil Dhadakne Do" and the latest release "Jurassic World". Hence, the Vidya Balan-Emraan Hashmi starrer remained low on both the first and second days.
On the other end, "Dil Dhadakne Do", which has big names in the cast like Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Anil Kapoor, has shown improvement on Friday and Saturday. While it made ₹2.27 crore on Friday, the Hindi movie made ₹3.53 crore on Saturday. The total collection of the movie now stands at ₹61.90 crore.
Now, analysts are curiously looking forward to the Sunday figures, which will clearly give an indication whether both the films will survive in theatres in the coming days. Especially for "Hamari Adhuri Kahani", which is targeted at family and multiplex audiences, it is crucial to make a good business on Sunday and garner good word-of-mouth so that there is a decent turnout for the film on week days.
On the other end, "Tanu Weds Manu" is inching towards the ₹150 crore mark. The Bollywood movie starring Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut has made ₹135 crore till date and it requires just ₹15 crore to reach the mark.
