Abhishek Kapoor's directorial film "Kai Po Che!" is continuing its run at the Indian box office. The youth-oriented film has fared decent collections in its third week.
The film starring newcomers minted approximately ₹4.15 crore in its third weekend, taking its overall domestic total to ₹49.67 crore nett.
"Collected approx ₹4.15 cr nett in Weekend 3. Grand total: approx ₹49.67 cr nett. Hit," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Despite its lack of a superstar cast, "Kai Po Che!" still managed to draw audiences to theatres. It is the biggest grosser film of this year featuring newcomers - Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav.
The business of the film declined in the third week because of new release "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns", which received good reviews especially for terrific performances.
The recent release, a sequel to "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster", is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and is earning more than the first part.
The collection is superb in Mumbai, Delhi, UP, Punjab and eastern circuits. In its opening weekend, it raked in approximately ₹12.75 crore nett at the domestic box office.
The three-day break up of the film is: Friday ₹3.50 crore, Saturday ₹4.25 crore and Sunday ₹5 crore.
In just three days, the film surpassed the production cost of ₹7 crore. If the film maintains the same pace at the box office, then it might collect around ₹30 crore in its first week.
The romantic drama features Jimmy Shergill, Mahie Gill, Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan in the lead roles.
