Ranbir Kapoor's "Roy" remained steady at the box office on Tuesday due to Maha Shivratri holiday across the country.
Tuesday's box office collection was slightly better than Monday's earnings at the domestic centers. The domestic net earnings of "Roy" also starring Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez now stands at ₹36.09 crore, after five days.
The romantic thriller earned ₹28.68 crore in its opening weekend, ₹3.65 crore on Monday and ₹3.76 crore on Tuesday.
"#Roy Fri 10.40 cr, Sat 11.16 cr, Sun 7.12 cr, Mon 3.65 cr, Tue 3.76. Total: ₹ 36.09 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Though the numbers are stable, the film couldn't live up to trade analysts' expectation in India. The pre-release hype, songs and trailer had received positive response, but negative reviews hampered its collection at the domestic box office after two days.
Nevertheless, at Pakistani box office the film has opened to phenomenal opening. ICC Cricket World Cup match didn't affect the Bollywood film "Roy" in the neighbouring country.
In fact the collection was so good that it broke the opening day record of Aamir Khan's "PK" film, which is the highest Bollywood grosser worldwide.
"The movie had a successful opening at the box office on Friday and even beat PK's opening-day collection by earning around ₹1.25 crore on its first day of screening," The Express Tribune quoted an official of distribution company Eveready Entertainment as saying.
Aamir's "PK" had minted ₹1.05 crore on opening day in December last year, the daily reported
"More than 3,000 people showed up at the screening of the movie at Cinepax Ocean Mall alone on Saturday and Sunday," Abid Ali Zaidi, assistant marketing manager at Cinepax Cinemas, told The Express Tribune.
However, in other overseas market the film has received average response.
From the US-Canada box office "Roy" minted $165,203 (₹1.02 crore) in its opening weekend, £ 70,351 (₹67.49 lakh) from the UK-Ireland box office, A$ 56,953 (₹27.54 lakh) from Australia, NZ$ 32,987 (₹15.37 lakh) from New Zealand and MYR 18,161 (₹3.17 lakh) from Malaysian box office, according to Bollywood Hungama.
