Ranbir Kapoor's "Roy" and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's "MSG: The Messenger" finally hit screens on Friday the 13th.
"Roy", which was initially set to release last year, has now hit screens during the Valentine's Day weekend. The romantic thriller has registered good occupancy in the morning shows on Friday.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles and is directed by Vikramajit Singh.
"Roy" is expected to start on a good note as it has registered occupancy of more than 50%. The opening might not be as good as any other Ranbir's movies as the actor didn't promote the film, but one can expect a good start for "Roy".
Also, the opening day occupancy of "Roy" is better than Akshay Kumar's "Baby". So, it could register the highest first day figure of 2015.
Talking about the weekend, Saturday's business is expected to increase due to Valentine's Day, but Sunday's box office collection might take a hit due to India v/s Pakistan World cup match.
The second film releasing along with "Roy" is "MSG" and surprisingly the film has opened to fantastic response.
The film was supposed to release in January, but due to controversies the release was postponed. However, the late release hasn't affected the film at theaters. In fact, the advance booking received phenomenal response, thanks to the controversies.
At several theaters in Mumbai, the response for "MSG" is better than "Roy". Also, the reviews, though negative, will work in the favour of the film.
"MSG" has been released in around 4,000 screens in India and is set to take the box office by storm.
