Ram Charan's "Govindudu Andarivadele" ("GAV") has turned out to be an average grosser at the box office.
"GAV," which hit the screens on 1 October, took grand openings on the first day of its release. Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanthi holidays helped the film to register good collections at the worldwide box office.
The family entertainer minted over ₹35 crore share in its first week worldwide. However, its collections dropped during the weekdays and has managed to mint ₹41.65 crore in total at the worldwide box office.
Directed by Krishna Vamsi, "GAV" is a family entertainer with Charan appearing in the role of an NRI. Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Srikanth and Kamalinee Mukherjee are also part of the film's cast.
For the first time, Charan has teamed up with "Chandamama" director for a family entertainer. The film received good reviews from the critics and the audience also had given thumbs up, which was evident from its good opening. However, the film could not sustain its momentum owing to new releases and witnessed a drop in the collections.
"GAV" total collections from AP/Nizam area stand at ₹33.85 crore, ₹3.60 crore from Karnataka, ₹1 crore from rest of India and ₹3.20 from overseas markets, according to Andhraboxoffice.
"GAV" has surpassed Balakrishna's "Legend" total collections, which amount to ₹40.4 crore. The Charan starrer failed to enter the list of all time top 10 Telugu films with highest worldwide share. However, it has taken the 13th spot in the list.
"GAV" was expected to surpass the ₹50 crore mark, but the film didn't even manage to cross ₹45 crore. It has failed to beat the collections of Charan's other films like "Racha" (₹45 crore), "Naayak" (₹46.5 crore) and "Yevadu" (₹47.1 crore). Allu Arjun's "Race Gurram" still remains in the top spot among 2014 Telugu films with a total collection of ₹57.65 crore.
