"Ragini MMS 2", starring Sunny Leone, witnessed a drop in its earnings on the second day. After registering a smashing day one at theaters in India, the collection of the film went down by 10 percent on Saturday.
The opening day accumulation was ₹8.43 crore, while the second day total is ₹7.5 crore, taking its two-day score to ₹15.93 crore.
"#RaginiMMS2 Fri 8.43 cr, Sat *est* 7.50 cr. India biz only... ₹ 24 cr to ₹ 25 cr nett weekend on the cards. Excellent," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The horror thriller will put on a good show in the opening weekend as it had a great start. The second day occupancy dropped at multiplexes, while the single screen occupancy remained the same as on day one.
"Ragini MMS 2", had the third highest opening day figures in 2014 after "Jai Ho" and "Gunday" [Read the report here]. However, the film has very little chance to see a growth in its earnings on Sunday, due to the India vs West Indies World T20 match.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut starrer "Queen" is still raking in the moolah at the box office. Despite the release of "Ragini MMS 2" and three other new films, "Queen" maintained a strong hold at the box office.
"Queen" was released on 7 March and the film has been dominating the domestic box office market since then. The third Friday and Saturday incomes of the film were pretty good.
"#Queen [Week 3] Fri 1.35 cr, Sat 2.50 cr. Grand total: ₹ 43.85 cr nett. India biz only. Superb," Adarsh stated.
The film is definitely set for a very strong third weekend. The third weekend collections should be in the range of ₹6 to ₹7 crore.
