"Ragini MMS 2" has beaten "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" and "Hasee Toh Phasee" lifetime business with its first week earnings.
The horror thriller starring Sunny Leone has raked in ₹39.38 crore in its week one theatrical run from domestic box office.
"Shaadi Ke Side Effects" starring Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan earned ₹34.92 crore and "Hasee Toh Phasee" starring Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra raked in ₹37.4 crore.
The film opened on a grand note and fetched good figures during the opening weekend. Even during the weekdays "Ragini MMS 2" dominted the box office with its strong performance, especially at single screens.
"#RaginiMMS2 Fri 8.43 cr, Sat 7.29 cr, Sun 8.78 cr, Mon 4.60 cr, Tue 3.81 cr, Wed 3.55 cr, Thu 2.92 cr. Total: Rs 39.38 cr nett. EXCELLENT," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film has brought much relief to the production house as their last few releases crashed at the box office. "Ragini MMS 2" earned the production cost within the opening weekend and its now reaping in profits.
The first quarter remained dull at the box office with only selective films raking in moolah. The former porn actress's film is among the film which managed to fetch some money at the collection centers.
The horror thriller has now become the fifth highest grosser film of 2014.
