Comedy film "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" continues to do well at the domestic box office, despite the release of Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer "Shaandaar" (Shandaar).
The comedy drama, starring lesser-known faces, is now heading towards the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The comedy film earned Rs 2.40 crore on the second Friday, even after the release of "Shaandaar".
The eight-day box office collection of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" now stands at Rs 41.65 crore. The second weekend box office collection, which is expected to be more than Rs 8 crore, will bring the film closer to the Rs 50 crore mark.
"#PyaarKaPunchnama2 is heading towards ₹ 50 cr mark. Unaffected by new films. [Week 2] Fri 2.40 cr. Total: ₹ 41.65 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" will continue its run without disturbance at the domestic box office in its second week.
The film will soon surpass the lifetime box office collection records of Ranbir Kapoor's "Roy", Kapil Sharma's "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon" and Varun Dhawan's "Badlapur".
Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film features Nushrat Bharucha, Sonnalli Seygall, Ishita Sharma and lead actor Kartik Aryan reprising their roles in the sequel, while Raayo S Bakhirta and Divyendu Sharma have been replaced by two debutantes Sunny Singh and Omkar Kapoor, respectively.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Sonnalli Seygall said with a big smile that "her phone hasn't stopped ringing" after the success of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2".
"Would love to do a sequel of Pyaar Ka Punchnama again and again," she added.
