Bollywood film "Ghanchakkar" got eclipsed by Punjabi flick "Jatt and Juliet 2" and Telugu film "Balupu" in the overseas market.
The collections of "Ghanchakkar" starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi were below the mark in the international market and turned out to be a disappointment.
The comedy thriller raked in ₹4.11 crore in the opening weekend from the international box office. The film fared well in UAE and GCC box offices, where it raked in ₹2.24 crore in three days. In India, the film raked in ₹2.8 crore on first Monday, taking the four day total to ₹25.1 crore.
The film's overseas collections are:
UK: ₹75.47 lakh (£ 83,344) from 62 screens
US and Canada: ₹85.36 lakh ($ 1, 43,616) from 89 screens
New Zealand: ₹4.79 lakh (NZ$ 10,373) from 7 screens
Australia: ₹21.28 lakh (A$ 38,97) from 14 screens
In major markets like UK and Austrailia "Jatt and Juliet 2" dominated the screens, while in US-Canada region the film was overshadowed by "Balupu".
Punjabi film "Jatt and Juliet 2", which is a sequel to a 2012 film of the same name, has raked in ₹4.39 crore from UK, US and Australia box offices. It has shattered the records of major Hindi films as well. In Australia, the film has emerged as the second biggest opener after "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".
