Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" shattered records with its box office run, and now his upcoming release "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP) is set to create history.
Not only the opening day, but the response to opening weekend advance booking of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is also massive. The family drama, helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, has registered good opening day occupancy.
As reported earlier, ticket sales of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" started with a bang within hours of opening the advance-booking counter. Tickets of several shows in National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai, Bangalore and other circuits sold out within hours of opening the advance booking counter. The ticket sales further increased as the release date of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" approached.
Not only in North, the film has also received a good response in South. The Hindi version (PRDP) and Telugu version, which is titled as "Prem Leela", has received phenomenal response.
Looking at the advance booking status, the film is set for a huge opening day. The opening day box office collection will cross Rs 40 crore mark on day one, but it remains to be seen whether it will shatter the records of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" or not.
Meanwhile, trade experts, exhibitors and distributors have predicted Rs 40+ crore opening for "PRDP" at the domestic box office.
"The film is expected to get a big opening of around 38-40 crores which is fantastic. The film might beat the opening day collection of "Happy New Year" which is 44 crores," distributor Ajay Pal from Bangalore told Koimoi.com.
"It will be the biggest opener for Salman Khan and 2015 as well. The film will remain in the range of 30-40 crores in its 1st extended weekend, which will indeed be a great business," Arun Mehra told the trade website.
