SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 is showing all signs of becoming a massive hit in Tamil Nadu. Especially in Chennai, the multilingual movie has made an earth-shattering collection in its three-day first weekend.
As per Behindwoods, the three versions of Baahubali 2 (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), which collected above Rs 91 lakh, have minted Rs 3.24 crore at the Chennai box office. The movie had a massive 824 shows in the city and enjoyed 80 percent occupancy rates on an average in the first weekend. It is believed that the movie had collected closer to Rs 4 crore if the morning shows were not cancelled due to the financial issues between the producer and the local distributor.
The movie is expected to keep the cash register ringing considering positive words that Baahubali 2 received from the critics and audience.
Power Paandi aka Pa Paandi is in the second place in Chennai. The release of Baahubali took toll on its collection as the movie was reduced to just 45 shows in its third weekend. It earned Rs 6.06 lakh to take its total tally to Rs 1.73 crore.
Hollywood movie Fate of Furious had 24 shows in Chennai from which it has earned Rs 2.94 lakh to take its total collection to Rs 2.10 crore. Raghava Lawrence's Sivalinga had 18 shows in its third weekend from which it raked in Rs 2.46 lakh. The total collection of the flick now stands at Rs 2.59 crore.
Arya's Kadamban had nine shows from which it has collected Rs 67,248 to take its total collection to Rs 98.67 lakh.
