Box office collection: Oppam, Oozham, Iru Mugan and Oru Muthassi Gadha hold well at Kochi multiplexes

The Onam releases, including superstar Mohanlal's Oppam, young star Prithviraj Sukumaran's Oozham, Tamil hero Vikram's Iru Mugan and director Jude Anthony Joseph's Oru Muthassi Gadha, have been performing well at the Kerala box office.

Crime thriller Oppam, starring Mohanlal as a visually challenged person Jayaraman, enjoys the top spot in the list of highest grossing Onam releases this year. The Priyadarshan directorial has earned a gross amount of Rs 1.13 crore alone from the multiplexes in Kochi. The movie, which entered the crore club within 11 days of its release, did a business of Rs 5.98 lakh on the 13th day from the multiplexes in the city.

The Priyadarshan directorial is followed by Prithviraj's revenge thriller Oozham, which has collected Rs 72.49 lakh within 13 days from Kochi multiplexes. According to trade analysts, the 13th day earning of the Jeethu Joseph movie is Rs 2.53 lakh and the low collection figure might be because of it being a weekday. The Tamil science fiction thriller, helmed by Anand Shankar, has also collected Rs 2.32 lakh on the 13th day taking the total amount to Rs 49 lakh after completing two weeks of its theatrical run at the multiplexes. 

However, Dileep's comedy entertainer Welcome to Central Jail, released on September 10, has opened to a mixed response from the audience and is said to be witnessing poor theatre occupancy, even though the actor enjoys a huge fan following from the family audience in Kerala.

Meanwhile, the latest Onam release Oru Muthassi Gadha, starring debutant Rajini Chandy, Suraj Venjarumoodu, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Rajeev Pillai, Lena, Aparna Balamurali and Bagyalakshmi in the main roles, has also been holding well at the multiplexes in Kochi. The family entertainer, which is the second directorial venture of Jude after Om Shanti Oshanaa, is said to have earned a total amount of Rs 19.57 lakh within a week of its release at the multiplexes.
