Nikhil Kumar's Jaguar has ended its first weekend on a decent note. The Kannada film has done reasonably well despite facing huge competition from a host of biggies, including Puneeth Rajkumar's Dodmane Huduga.
Jaguar was released in over 200 screens on Thursday, October 6. The makers promoted the film well, which has helped the flick to reach every nook and corner of the state. It was opened to mixed reviews from critics. But the mass audience have liked the film.
However, the business of the Telugu version of Jaguar is not up to the mark. The negative word-of-mouth seems to have played a spoilsport.
Jaguar was directly pitted against Yogaraj Bhat's Dana Kayonu and Prakash Raj's Idolle Ramayana. Along with these two films, the Nikhil Kumar-starrer faced competition from already successfully-running Neer Dose, which stars Jaggesh.
Neer Dose has been declared a hit and still being played in several cinema halls in the state. Dodmane Huduga too enjoyed good viewership last weekend and this had some impact on Jaguar at the box office.
On the other hand, Yogaraj Bhat's Dana Kayonu has opened to positive talks and the movie's collections are expected to see growth given positive talks, and Prakash Raj's Idolle Ramayana is a hit among multiplex audience. This week, Ramya and late Vishnuvardhan's much-hyped Nagarahavu would also see the light of the day.
Hence, trade experts are curiously looking forward to see how Jaguar will perform in the days to come when the audience have a variety of good Kannada films being screened in theatres.
