"10 Endrathukulla" may have emerged victorious at the domestic box office to beat "Naanum Rowdy Thaan", but the Vikram starrer could not surpass the business made by Vijay Sethupathi's movie in overseas centres.
"Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has overpowered "10 Endrathukulla" in many centres. At the US box office, it is ahead of Vikram's movie that could only collect Rs 24.69 lakh from 63 screens, by earning Rs 1.16 crore ($178855) from 37 screens in its first weekend, reports Bollywood Hungama.
At the UK box office, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has performed better than "10 Endrathukulla". Vijay Sethupathi's film has raked in Rs 38.50 lakh to beat the Vikam starrer, which has grossed Rs 18.89 lakh.
"Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has made a stupendous business at the Australian box office, where it has earned Rs 26.23 lakh from seven screens. The Vikram and Samantha starrer made Rs 5.42 lakh. Vijay Sethupathi's movie minted Rs 1.32 lakh in New Zealand and the Chiyaan's flick raked in Rs 1.01 lakh from this part of the world.
However, the only place where "10 Endrathukulla" has performed better than "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" is Malaysia. While Vikram's movie made Rs 28.26 lakh from 31 screens, Vijay Sethupathi starrer earned Rs 11.66 lakh from 7 screens in its first weekend.
"Naanum Rowdy Thaan" was released along with "10 Endrathukulla" on 22 October. The Vijay Sethupathi starrer got better reviews than Vikram's film. This is evident as Sethupathi's film overpowered Chiyaan's flick.
However, in Tamil Nadu, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" made a business of Rs 9.5 crore in its first weekend. On the other end, Vikram's movie made Rs 14.5 crore.
"10 Endrathukulla" is being replaced by "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" in many theatres in Tamil Nadu and the future for Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara appears to be good.
